The following is a synopsis of the 2011 Mount View High School girls varsity soccer squad:

Coach/years coached current team: David Page, first year.

Last year’s record/playoff information: 0-14, 18th in Eastern Class B. Did not qualify for postseason play.

Roster: Seniors Amanda Larrabee (goalie), LeeAnn Larrabee (senior), Caitlin Picard (defense), Fayth Savoy (forward), Cheyenne Cassidy (forward) and Ailish Foley (defense); juniors Mikell Grant (forward), Kaitlin Leavitt (midfield, forward), Alexis Morse (midfield) and Katelyn Willis (midfield, forward); sophomores Shaniah Gilley (midfield, defense), Stephanie Stilkey (midfield, forward), Alexis Strain (defense), Courtney Morse (defense) and Morgan Clifford (midfield); and freshman Logan Basford.

Graduation losses: Vicki Lufkin, Hannah Clark, Anna Dyer, Alyssa Pulsifer, Marissa Cox and Ashley Holman-Dupuis

Significant impact players: LeeAnn Larrabee, Amanda Larrabee, Caitlin Picard, Mikell Grant and Kaitlin Leavitt.

Team strengths: Overall team speed, organization and enthusiasm.

Team goals: To improve in ball possession and organization and build an attitude of success and enthusiasm for the game, coach Page said.

Top league opponents: Camden Hills, Morse of Bath and Oceanside.

Outlook: The Mustangs hope to put behind them a losing streak that has spanned at least three seasons, and coach Page feels his team could well scratch out a few victories if all goes to plan this season.

“There are a lot of talented, enthusiastic players returning for us,” he said. “As we become more organized and, if we continue to improve on passing and possession of the ball, there is no reason we can’t be competitive every time we step on the field. There’s still a learning curve to work through, but expect to see much improved results over previous seasons and as the season progresses.”
