The going was tougher than hoped on the links Tuesday for two Waldo County high school golf teams, as Belfast (1-2) lost to host Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield 7-2 and Mount View (0-3) fell at home to Lincoln Academy of Newcastle 8-1 at the Country View Golf Club in Brooks.

Maine Central Institute 7, Belfast 2 … At J.W. Parks, the Lions fell to the Huskies, compiling a four-golfer stroke total of 189 to MCI’s 179. Lion Jamie Jackson, who shot 37 for nine holes, was the medalist.

The individual results, with Lions listed first, were: Jackson (37) beat Gavin Dugas (41); Jack Smith (75) lost to Trevor Kitchum (45); Tim Stich (46) lost to Dylan Watrous (42); Tyler McDevitt (51) beat Kael McCarthy (55); Allie Njaa (55) lost to Cameron Neal (54); and  Logan Mitchell (63) lost to Garth Stockwell (51).

Lincoln Academy 8, Mount View 1 … At Country View, the Mustangs lost to the Eagles, as Lincoln Academy finished with a four-golfer stroke total of 160 to Mount View’s 226.

The individual results, with Mustangs listed first, were: Erik Larrabee (40) beat Goron Johansen (41); Dan Muther (65) lost to Jalen Lincoln (38, medalist); Zach Holman (65) lost to Malcomb Oliver (40); Owen Freeman (64) lost to Seward Matel (41); Montana Maynard (62) lost to Cody Graves (48); and Joel Poulin (60) lost to Casey Poland (48).
