Published local writer Eddie Adelman will present a one hour seminar on how to begin the process of memoir writing and storytelling Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 10 a.m. at the Waldo County YMCA, 157 Lincolnville Ave./Route 52.

In addition, Adelman will discuss the growing popularity of individuals audio-taping their life stories for eventual transcription and editing into hardbound books, along with photos, of the individual’s life. This pastime has become especially popular for people 50 and older who are interested in passing down life stories to their children and grandchildren before they slip away.

In addition to instruction, the seminar will also include readings from popular memoirs such as “Angela’s Ashes” and “Eat, Pray, Love,” as well as excerpts from “The Diary of Anne Frank” and “To Kill a Mockingbird.”

Adelman is a screenwriter, playwright and journalist whose articles and essays have appeared in The Portland Press Herald, MPBN Radio, Bangor Metro Magazine and The Republican Journal. He was a finalist on the Bravo Network’s TV Series “Situation: Comedy” in 2005 for a sitcom pilot he wrote about a diner in Midcoast Maine.

This seminar is free and open to the general public. To reserve a space in advance, contact the Waldo County YMCA at 338-4598.
