With a handful of Midcoast high school athletic events postponed due to rain Wednesday, the Mount View boys and girls soccer teams proved the only shows in town as both Thorndike-based teams squared off with Nokomis of Newport in early-season action.

The games resulted in a pair of shutout victories for both visiting teams, with the Mustang boys and Warrior girls picking up wins.

For the Mount View boys, it marked the second straight lopsided victory of the year, as they have outscored opponents 16-0 through two games.

For the Mount View girls, it marked the team’s 53rd straight game without a win. For the past three-plus seasons, the Mustangs have a record of 0-52-1, with their last victory coming against Oak Hill of Sabattus on Sept. 14, 2007.
