Simultaneously, 71-year-old John McCarty of Delaplane, Va. pulled off of the Saturday Cove Road and onto Route 1 and reportedly crossed into Bari’s path. Bari  attempted to swerve left in an effort to avoid hitting McCarty, but the front of McCarty’s 2004 Subaru struck the right side of Bari’s vehicle, scraping the length of the car. McCarty told Deputy Darrin Moody that he pulled off the Saturday Cove Road and intended to cross Route 1 and turn onto the Beech Hill Road. McCarty stated that he had his blinker on, and Bari passed his vehicle on the left as he went to make the turn. No one was injured in the accident.
