Flora L. Flanders, of Liberty, died Saturday, Sept. 10, 2011, at the Hospice Unit at Waldo County Hospital following a brief illness.

Flora graduated from Northborough High School in Northborough, Mass., and Becker Junior College in Worcester, Mass. She worked for many years at Hebert Candy Mansion in Shrewsbury, Mass., before starting the Forest Orchard Archery and Sporting Goods Store in Northborough with her husband, Cliff.

She and her husband, along with their daughter Carol, ran the business for 25 years and had a world-wide customer base. They also published many articles on the sport of archery.

She was a Girl Scout Leader for many years and a long time member of the Trinity Church in Northborough, Mass.

She shared her husband’s love for flying their Piper Cub, “Tinkerbell,” out of the Westborough, Mass. Airport and spending as much time as possible at their cabin on Washington Pond in Washington with her family and friends.

After retiring, they moved to Liberty. Flora was secretary of the Sheepscot Lake Sports Club for many years and was a member of the snowmobile club. She was an active member of Liberty Baptist Church in Liberty. Her hobbies included camping, canoeing, baking, knitting, sewing, reading, gardening and photography.

She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Clifton M. Flanders, and her parents, James and Karin Kasperson Dickison.

She is survived by her two daughters, Carol L. Renaud of Naples, Fla. and Linda D. MacLeod of Liberty; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Flanders of Spencer, Mass.; five grandchildren, Deborah, Michael, Michele, James and John; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; one niece, three nephews and several cousins.

Family and friends are invited to call from Saturday, Sept. 17, from 10-11 a.m., at Liberty Baptist Church where funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. with Rev. Stephen Daniels officiating. A burial service will take place at Howard Street Cemetery in Northborough, Mass., at a time to be set by her family.
