Tuesday held a mixed bag of results for Waldo County high school soccer squads, with a handful of teams experiencing their collective ups and downs in early-season contests.

The Belfast boys and girls and Islesboro coed teams picked up wins, while the Mount View boys and girls, along with the Searsport girls, dropped their respective contests.

Results from Belfast and Searsport games were unavailable.

Boys soccer

Morse 2, Mount View 1 … At Bath Tuesday, the Shipbuilders benefited from a second-half penalty kick to break a 1-1 tie and hold on for a one-goal victory. It was the first loss of the season for the Mustangs, who had outscored their first three foes 21-0.

Silas Fox creased the net for Mount View on an assist from James Philbrick, while Cody Snyder added a goal and an assist for Morse and P.C. Ostergaard added a goal for the hosts.

Grady Madden made eight saves in goal for the Shipbuilders, while Chris Montminy turned away seven shots for the ‘Stangs. Mount View outshot Morse 17-14 and held a 6-1 edge in corner kicks.

Ostergaard put the hosts up 1-0, on an assist from Snyder, with 30:49 remaining, while Fox knotted the score, on an assist from Philbrick, with 16:10 remaining. Snyder then converted a penalty kick six minutes into the second half, which proved to be the game-winner.

Mount View (3-1, 6.0714 points) is fifth in the Maine Principals’ Association Heal Point Standings for Eastern Class B, while Presque Isle (5-0, 14.7959 points) is first in the 18-team region.

Islesboro 8, Acadia Christian 0 … At Islesboro Tuesday, the Eagles scored early and often and won their first game of the season.

Leading the islanders were Kim Kyungmin (3 goals), Branden Bourque (goal, assist), Cameron Jack (goal, 2 assists), Ally Craig (goal), Nick Day (goal), Kathryn Snyder (goal, assist), Will Schoppe (assist) and Jacek Krajewski (assist). Ian Davis and Charlie Cilley split time in goal for the islanders.

Islesboro (1-0, 1.4881 points) is fifth in Western Class D, while Richmond (2-1-1, 8.0040 points) is first in the 11-team region.

Girls soccer

Morse 9, Mount View 0 … At Thorndike Tuesday, the Shipbuilders kept their collective feet on the accelerator throughout the game and held the Mustangs scoreless on the day — and winless on the season.

Tori Fields scored four goals for Morse, while Katie Henrickson added three goals and Miracle Trimble and Paige Martin each creased the net once for the visitors. Amanda Larrabee made 15 saves in the net for the Mount View, while Sadia Crosby had two saves for Nokomis. The Warriors outshot the ‘Stangs 24-2 and held a 5-1 edge in corner kicks.

Mount View (0-4, no points) is 18th in Eastern Class B, while Caribou (5-0-1, 23.5332 points) is first in the 18-team region.

Maine Central Institute 4, Mount View 1 … At Pittsfield Sept. 9, the Mustangs could not contain the host Huskies and fell by three goals.

Victoria Cunningham finished with a hat trick for the Huskies, which proved to be the difference in the final score, while Allison Sinclair also creased the net for the hosts. LeeAnn Larrabee scored the lone goal for the ‘Stangs.

Amanda Larrabee made 10 saves on 15 shots for Mount View, while Alana Oliver made five saves on nine shots for MCI.
