Islesboro police are investigating the cause of a single-vehicle motorcycle accident after a soccer game Tuesday, Sept. 13 that sent the bike’s juvenile driver to the hospital.

According to Police Chief Fred Porter, witnesses said a 17-year-old male resident of Islesboro was leaving the parking lot at Maddie Dodge Field on Hughes Point Road after a soccer game Tuesday evening when he apparently lost control of his motorcycle.

The youth reportedly crashed into a post and was thrown 15 feet, sustaining unspecified injuries. He was subsequently taken by Islesboro Volunteer Ambulance Service to Pen Bay Medical Center in Rockland, and Porter said Wednesday, Sept. 14 that he believed the youth had since been released from the hospital.

Porter declined to release the name of the injured teen because he is a juvenile. The police chief said he is in the process of following up with witnesses in an effort to determine what may have caused the crash.
