It has been an up-and-down season for the Belfast and Mount View golf teams, with the Lions winning three of eight matches and the Mustangs still searching for that elusive first victory.

The Waldo County-based high school athletic squads were back on the links Tuesday with home and road matches.

As the regular season winds to a close, the Lions are 3-5 and Mustangs 0-7.

Lincoln Academy 8.5, Belfast .05 … At the Wawenock Golf Club in Walpole Tuesday, the host Eagles of Newcastle proved too tough for the Lions. Lincoln Academy finished with a four-golfer, nine-hole stroke total of 158 to 178 for Belfast.

The individual results, with Lions listed first, were: Jamie Jackson (41) lost to Malcolm Oliver (35, medalist); Tyler McDevitt (45) and Erick Larrabee (45) tied; Tim Sticht (42) lost to Seward Matel (40); Jack Smith (65) lost to Cody Graves (40); Logan Mitchell (50) lost to Kelsey Leeman (43); and Grant Starrett (56) lost to Casey Poland (48).

In jayvee matches, Allie Njaa (58) beat Luke Biber (59); Ethan Campbell (66) lost to Matt Bolster (score unavailable) and Allen Alley (70) lost to Austin Armstrong (55).

Waterville 7.5, Mount View 1.5 … At the Country View Golf Club in Brooks Tuesday, the visiting Purple Panthers raced past the winless Mustangs. Waterville finished with a four-golfer, nine-hole stroke total of 204 to 218 for Mount View. The positive for the Mustangs was that Erik Larrabee shot a 39 for nine holes to finish as the medalist.

The individual results, with Mustangs listed first, were: Larrabee (39) beat Will Bolduc (52); Dan Muther (58) and Sam Wehry (58) tied; Zach Holman (60) lost to Dylan Davis (58); Owen Freeman (63) lost to Jim Lavin (44); Montana Maynard (62) lost to Lauren Hallenbeck (52); and Joel Poulin (61) lost to Connor Tulley (56).

Maranacook 8.5, Belfast .5 … At the Northport Golf Club Sept. 14, the Black Bears of Readfield upended the host Lions. Maranacook finished with a four-golfer, nine-hole stroke total of 165 to 176 for Belfast.

The individual results, with Lions listed first, were: Jackson (41) lost to Luke Ruffing (37, medalist); McDevitt (46) lost to Cameron Brochu (42); Sticht (42) and Matt Delmar (42) tied; Smith (55) lost to Tucker Whitman (44); Mitchell (47) lost to Tanner Webb (44); and Starrett (51) lost to  Bailey Clark (48).

In jayvee matches, Njaa (60) lost to Schuyler Webb (52); and Campbell (74) lost to Adam Brooks (72).
