Waldo County high school soccer teams were busy Tuesday afternoon with nearly every squad in the area enjoying action on the pitch as the second half of the campaign kicked off.

Among Tuesday’s winners were the Mount View and Belfast boys, while the Mount View and Searsport girls came up empty in their respective quests for first wins of the season. The Belfast girls also lost.

Information for the Belfast boys and girls, as well as the Mount View girls, was unavailable.

Boys soccer

Mount View 1, Oak Hill 0 … At Thorndike Tuesday, the Mustangs continued to impress and came away with a one-goal victory.

Trevor Diemer scored what proved the game-winner for the ‘Stangs with 5:20 remaining in regulation on a penalty kick. Chris Montminy made six saves in goal for Mount View, while Sam Morin had nine stops for Oak Hill.

The Mustangs held a 17-7 edge in shots and a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Mount View (7-1, 35.5357 points) is third in the Maine Principals’ Association Heal Point Standings for Eastern Class B, while Camden Hills (8-0, 55.3571 points) is first in the 18-team region.

Girls soccer

George Stevens Academy 2, Searsport 0 … At Searsport Tuesday, the visiting Eagles of Blue Hill got a pair of first-half goals and stood pat during the final 40 minutes to keep the Vikings winless on the year.

Abby Nowland and Charlotte Reiter both scored for GSA, while goalie Hannah Billings made 12 saves. Alicen Brooks made 11 saves in net for the Vikings. Searsport outshot GSA 18-14, while the Eagles held a 4-3 edge in corner kicks.

Searsport (0-7, no points) is 17th in Eastern Class C, while Fort Kent (6-3, 39.235 points) is first in the 17-team region.

Oak Hill 5, Mount View 0 … At Sabattus Tuesday, the Mustangs continue to search for that elusive first win of the year after falling to the Raiders.

Darby Beaulieu scored twice for the Raiders, while Tori Hart, Brooke Lebel and Julie Morneault rounded out the scoring.

Amanda Larrabee made 13 saves on 23 shots for the Mustangs, while Desiree Johns turned away three saves on five shots for the Raiders. Oak Hill held a 10-1 edge in corner kicks.

Mount View (0-8, no points) is last in Eastern Class B, while Caribou (8-0-1, 55.2934 points) is first in the 18-team region.
