Veteran Belfast Area High School varsity field hockey coach Allen Holmes, who has more than 400 career victories and several state Class B championships under his belt, coordinated youth scrimmages Oct. 16 at Point Lookout.

The scrimmages were between players in second through fifth grades from the Belfast Lions, Camden Hills Windjammers and Oceanside Mariners.

It was the first experience of playing in a game for the young Mariners and Windjammers. The day was about playing and enjoying the game, said Kim Nason, one of the Windjammer coaches.

The Mariners were coached by Joanna Hall and Andrea Garver and the Windjammers by senior Shani Morris and junior Alice Flint, under the direction of coaches Jan Holmes-Jackson and Nason.

Former BAHS athlete Brie Curry and current Lion Brooklyn Curry officiated the games.
