Arlen I. Jackson, 77, passed away at his residence in Liberty on Oct. 21, 2011. He was born in Belfast on Aug. 24, 1934 to Irvin and Avis (Ellis) Jackson.

Arlen was a U.S. Navy veteran who worked as a mechanic. He owned and operated various automotive businesses throughout New England including A&J Motors in Manchester, Maine which he owned and operated for 25 years. He enjoyed buying and selling Corvettes, boating and traveling in his R.V. Arlen was a Mason since 1965. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is predeceased by both parents; his son Kenneth Jackson; a sister Juanita Vinings; and son-in-law Norman Goble.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Beverly (Gould) Jackson of Liberty; his children, Mallorie Goble of N.Y., Gregory Jackson and wife Lisa of Poland, Dennis Jackson of Readfield, Jeffery Jackson and wife Sandra of Manchester, Teresa Latta and husband Anthony Sr. of N.C.; his brother Jerome Jackson and wife Diane of Mass.; grandchildren, Jason, Chad, Samantha, Jessica, Jennifer, Kevin, Eric, Ashley, Carrie, Adam, Anthony Jr., and Lindsay; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call Tuesday, Oct. 25 from 5-7 p.m. at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Avenue, Belfast where memorial services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 11 a.m., with Pastor Storm Gould officiating. Interment will follow at Grove Cemetery, Belfast.
