The driver of a 2004 Ford Focus who went off Route 1 early Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 25 received only minor injuries.

According to a Maine State Police trooper on the scene, Dan Ackley, 59, of Searsport was headed north on Route 1 when a van, two cars in front of him, slowed to make a left turn.

In order to avoid a collision with the car directly in front of his, Ackley braked hard and swerved into the woods. He received minor cuts and abrasions to his face and neck.

Camden First Aid Association, Lincolnville Fire Department and Waldo County Sheriff’s Office personnel responded to the scene. The investigation is being conducted by the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office.
