Some of the Midcoast’s youngest soccer players competed in several games on the Belfast Area High School and Anderson fields Oct. 16 as part of the Seacoast Cup Tournament.

The youth tournament was a collaboration between the Waldo County YMCA in Belfast and Penobscot Bay YMCA in Rockport.

There were more than 100 youngsters enrolled in the YMCA Youth Soccer League this fall, either in the Mites League, for children in grades 1-3, or the Majors League, for those in grades 4-6.

It was the Major League teams’ time in the spotlight Oct. 16, where the four squads, including three from Pen Bay and one from Waldo County, participated in the round robin tourney.

Pam Ellis of the Waldo County YMCA organized the event. Pen Bay had three teams, Red, White and Green, and Waldo County one, called Belfast.

The tournament included each team playing three 40-minute games, with five-minute halftimes, on the two fields. The games and fields included: Belfast versus Green (BAHS), Red versus White (Anderson), Green versus Red (BAHS), Belfast versus White (Anderson), Belfast versus Red (BAHS) and Green versus White (Anderson).
