Oakland Park Lanes was overrun Monday morning by dozens of Midcoast high school and middle school students who hoped for a strike, a spare and, above all, to have a good time.

That again was the trend Nov. 7 as more than 70 children ages 5 to 19 from 11 Knox, Lincoln and Waldo county schools took part in the annual Special Olympics event and were bowled over with the experience.

The event is the highlight of the year for many of the participants and could not be possible if not for the many volunteers, teachers, family members and other students who attend to not only keep score, but to motivate the student-athletes to experience a positive time and a good string.

The individual scores for the participants, including the bowler’s age and pins knocked down, were:
