The Belfast Area High School boys junior varsity soccer squad had a down year as far as the win column is concerned, but the program has much to look forward to, according to Lion coach Ted Rakis.

The Lions earned a 2-6-2 record this season, with the highlight being picking up an 8-0 victory in their first game of the fall against Maine Central Institute of Pittsfield.

While Belfast only experienced one more victory all season, Rakis said the squad “had a rough year, but the team always improved.”

“A lot of kids joined the team this year and their interest in soccer is inspiring,” he said. “They have a lot of enthusiasm and a positive attitude. We will only get stronger next year.”

Team members for Belfast included Sam Kulikowski, Emerson Dellamattera, Marcus Riley, Chase McIntire, Tyler Martin, David Flood, Evan Schweikert, Kieran Shell, C.
