For a second year, Amie Prock and her daughters Hannah, Emily and Cassidy of Waldoboro have organized a drive and mailed out care packages to troops serving overseas during the holidays.

The family is sending 30 boxes to three different units serving in Afghanistan. Last year, they sent 17 boxes, also to three Afghanistan-based units.

Amie Prock, an avid coupon user, said she stocks up on personal items all year using coupons so there is enough for each troop to have their own items. She began fundraising at the beginning of November to help pay shipping costs. (Each box costs $12.95 to ship.)

The Procks thank the following for donations: Prock Marine Co., Prock Ridge Farm, Barley Joe Greenhouse, Waldoboro Girl Scout Troop 1030, Belfast Girl Scout Troop 483, Heidi Overlock, Wendy Kinney, Melissa Daigle, Betsy Lash’s first-grade class, and everyone that attended Prock’s first coupon class.

Send donations to help with next year’s shipping costs to Amie Prock, 430 Orffs Corner Road, Waldoboro, ME 04572

The Procks would like to double this year’s totals in 2012.
