This weekend the Belfast Lions Club will host a special guest for breakfast, and local families are invited to come to the table for the all-you-can eat affair.

Sunday morning, Dec. 4 from 8 to 11 a.m., the Lions will hold its 11th annual breakfast with Santa Claus at the Shrine Club on Northport Avenue (across from Belfast City Park).

Eric Walker, a local Lion who is chairing this year’s event, said the breakfast will feature omelets made-to-order, scrambled eggs, hash browns, bacon, sausage, pancakes, fresh fruit, muffins, coffee, juice and other things.

The cost for adults is $8 and the charge for kids under 12 is $3. Santa will join families for the meal and will also be available for photos with the children, Walker said.

Walker said he hopes this year’s event will be just as successful as last year’s breakfast.

“Last year we were mobbed with people from before we opened,” Walker said. “We were at capacity for about an hour and a half but never had any waiting. We served over 100 adults and over 50 kids in that time.”

Walker said Santa was very busy throughout last year’s event, too.

The money raised this year will go to support the Peer Leadership Program at Belfast Area High School and will also help send all eighth-graders from Troy Howard Middle School to Camp Kieve in the coming spring.
