The United Christian Church invites the community to a program of music and reflection for the advent season Sunday, Dec. 11 at 4 p.m. The church is located in Lincolnville Center at 18 Searsmont Road/Route 173.

The program, titled Come and Find the Quiet Center, will offer a balance to the flurry of activities surrounding the holidays and will include music, reflective readings and silent prayer. The program will be led by Rev. Dr. Susan Stonestreet, pastor of the United Christian Church.

Music director Mary Schulien will lead the gathering in singing seasonal hymns, which will include the Austrian carol “Still, Still, Still”; “One Candle Is Lit”; and “Let all Mortal Flesh Keep Silence.” Featured will be the hymn “Come and Find the Quiet Center” set to “Beach Spring,” a beautiful Sacred Harp tune composed in 1844.

The United Christian Church was built in 1821 and is on the National Registry of Historic Places. It has its original boxed pews, upper and lower balconies and leaded glass windows. The building is fully handicapped accessible.

All faiths are welcome. Musicians who would like to participate should contact Schulien at 785-3521 to receive the program’s music. For further information, call Pastor Stonestreet at 763-4526.
