Regardless of the weather Friday, Dec. 9, the Searsport District High School boys and girls varsity basketball squads look for white-out conditions inside the gymnasium.

The Vikings will host Stearns of Millinocket at 5:30 and 7 p.m. in season-opening games that day and hope to blind their opponents with white-out conditions.

SDHS boys varsity coach Brad Cook said the teams will have a “white out the gym” promotion and give the first 150 Searsport fans a free T-shirt to wear. “We are encouraging all fans to wear white — even if they are not one of the first 150 [to enter the gym],” he said.

The t-shirts will be handed out prior to the girls game, so fans “should plan to attend both [games] and enjoy the games while supporting our student-athletes,” Cook said.

The doors open at 4:30 p.m. The cost is $3 for adults, $2 for seniors and students are free.
