Peter F. Munson left this world peacefully with family by his side on Nov. 23, 2011 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Pete, or “Papa Pete” to some, was born Aug. 24, 1940 in Woburn, Mass. to Stanley and Helen Mercon Munson, who preceded him in death, along with his five brothers, Stanley J., Myles (Mike), David, Alan and Bruce; as well as a sister, Virginia Morse.

Peter is survived by his loving wife and soul mate, Gwena; step-son Bryce and his wife Sharla Samford of Corpus Christi, Texas; son Myles and his wife Julie Munson of Centennial, Colo; grandsons, Michael and his wife Leslie Massenburg of Richardson, Texas, Cooper and Cameron Munson of Centennial, Colo; daughter Fawn Munson and granddaughter Forrest Munson of Northport; his childrens’ mother, Florence Munson and her husband Paul Haber of Northport; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Pete worked various jobs while he lived in Maine, including being a knife sharpener at Penobscot Poultry, a fireman on the steam tugboat Clyde B. Holmes, and on the island oil tanker McCloon. He retired from the Corpus Christi Army Depot in November of 2003 as a helicopter engine tester.

At Pete’s request, his service will be private and held in the spring of 2012.
