The following is a list of municipal government meetings — by community, in alphabetical order — that will be taking place during the next week around Waldo County. When available, information has been included detailing at least some of what is expected to be discussed at that meeting.

Schools

Regional School Unit 20 – Board of Directors, Tuesday (12/13), 6:30 p.m. Belfast Area High School Library – Field Trip Requests from Capt. Stevens School (Grade 5) to the Museum of Science in Boston, and Belfast Area High School Environmental Science Class (Grades 9-12) to the Museum of Science & Pompeii Exhibit in Boston; discussion and possible action to establish a stipend status for the BAHS Science and Engineering Club; action to establish dates for Personnel and Policy Committee Meetings; and an executive session to discuss a resignation.

Regional School Unit 3 – Board of Directors, Monday, (12/12), 7 p.m. Morse Elementary School Gym, Brooks – Second readings of policies on student alcohol and drug use, and supervision and evaluation of professional staff; presentation and discussion of a single bus run to begin September 2012; first readings of policies regarding the Mount View TV station; presentation by board member Lisa Cooley on the district’s movement to proficiency-based education; consideration of holding additional meetings starting in January, also on proficiency-based education; possible executive session for evaluation of the superintendent and consideration of new contract.

Towns

Belfast – Special Council Meeting, Wednesday (12/14), 6:30 p.m. Belfast Boathouse, a public meeting and public hearing regarding the Preliminary Design Report the City has submitted to the Maine Dept of Transportation for the Belfast Harbor Walk. According to City Planner Wayne Marshall, this will be the last opportunity for the public to weigh in substantially on the design; Planning Board, Thursday (12/15), 7 p.m. City Hall (meeting moved from Wednesday to accommodate the Harbor Walk meeting), applicant Dana Keene seeking final approval to subdivide a 10-acre parcel on Swan Lake Avenue into three parcels. The planning board will be reviewing boundaries and an access road but not specific uses of the parcels, one of which is expected to be used by Goose River Partners to build a 24-unit elderly housing development.

Brooks – Planning Board, Monday (12/12) 7 p.m. Town Office; Selectmen, Thursday, (12/15), 6:30 p.m. Town Office (note: regular meetings have been moved to every other Thursday; previously were held every other Tuesday)

Burnham – Selectmen, Monday (12/12), 7-9 p.m. Town Office; Planning Board meeting originally scheduled for Dec. 13 has been canceled.

Liberty – Planning Board, Thursday (12/8), 7 p.m. Town Office – Application by Jennifer Garrett to build a 24-foot square attached garage for a camp at 70 Snow Village Road. This request was not included in a permit issued at the board’s November meeting. Application by Leonard Knowlton to build a 30-foot by 26-foot seasonal camp with attached 15-foot by 10-foot deck on Blueberry Lane.
