Lewis Stanley White, 81, died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011 at his home in Northport. Born in Brewer on Feb. 23, 1930, he was the son of Samuel Merlin and Dorothy A. (Lyford) White.

He was a graduate of Brewer High School and served in the U.S. Navy. Lew married Gail Connor of Brewer, and they lived in Belfast for many years before moving to Northport in 1996.

Lew worked as an auto parts manager for several businesses in Belfast including Steego Auto Parts and Car Quest. After his retirement, Lew continued working part-time at Knox Brothers. He was a member of the Belfast Lions Club, the Belfast Curling Club and the Timothy Chase Lodge of Masons #126 where he had served as a past master.

Surviving is his wife, Gail Connor White of Northport; two daughters, Jennifer White Sprague of Belfast and her fiancé, John Bridges of Rockport, and Stephanie Grass and her husband, Troy, of Eddington; grandchildren, Megan Rinko of Sabattus, Matthew Hatch of Brewer, Ariel Sprague of Morrill, Hannah Sprague of Belfast, Nicholas Grass of Orlando, Fla., Korren Grass of Bangor; great-grandchildren, Ethan Rinko of Sabattus, Leira Gunlock of Morrill; two honorary daughters, Nena Asenjo and her children, Jesus and Isabella of Spain, and Mio Hiraoka and her children, Hana and Yu of Japan.

Lew is also survived by a sister, Brenda Rogerson of South Brewer; two brothers-in-law, George McHale of Orrington, Robert and Richard Connor of California; a sister-in-law, Linda Connor of Maryland; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his infant son, James Lewis White; his parents; a sister, Margaret Jean McHale; and a brother, Samuel M. White Jr.

At his request there will be no formal services at this time. A celebration of his life will be announced in the spring.
