Jennie E. Thompson, 97, died peacefully on Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, in Pittsfield. She was born in Pittsfield on Oct. 10, 1914, the daughter of Fred and Inez (Hodgkins) Reynolds.

Jennie was one of 10 children and grew up in both Pittsfield and Burnham. She graduated from Maine Central Institute with the class of 1933. She married Victor Thompson on May 22, 1937 and together they raised their family.

She worked for the Goodall Hospital in Sanford and the Burnham and Morrill Factory in Portland. Upon returning to Pittsfield, she went to work for the Wayside Grill, George’s Diner and then later retired from the Pittsfield school cafeteria.

She was a member of the Senior Citizens of Pittsfield and the Sebasticook Club.

She is survived by two sons, Roger Thompson and his wife Jean of Pittsfield and Keith Thompson and his wife Susan of Morrill; two daughters, Beverly Allen of North Berwick and Marilyn Humphrey and her husband Weldon of Pittsfield; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Phillip Reynolds of Lebanon and Evan Reynolds and his wife Mary of Arizona; and a sister, Winnifred Ahlquist and her husband Clarence of Gorham.

She was predeceased by her husband, Victor Thompson; a daughter, Evelyn; two brothers, Millard and Ivan; and four sisters, Beatrice, Elizabeth, Phyllis and Esther.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m., with a funeral service following at 11 a.m., on Friday, Dec. 16, at the Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield, with the Rev. Al Thibault officiating. Interment will immediately follow at the Village Cemetery, Peltoma Avenue, Pittsfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pittsfield Rehab and Nursing Activities Fund, 167 Leighton St., Pittsfield, ME, 04967, in Jennie’s memory.
