Crystal B. LaRue, 88, of Westbrook, passed away Saturday, Dec. 24, 2011 with her family by her side. Crystal was born June 22, 1923 in Waldoboro to the late Claude and Alma (Barter) Fitch.

She graduated from Waldoboro High School in 1940. She proudly worked for several years in Washington, D.C. as a stenographer for the War Department where she met and married the late George (Gene) N. LaRue.

They lived for many years in Belfast, where they raised their daughters. Crystal worked for Woolworth’s five-and-dime and then Truitt Brothers shoe factory until her mother’s illness when she moved to Waldoboro to care for her. For the past five years Crystal lived in Larrabee Village in Westbrook.

Crystal was predeceased by her parents; two sisters, Marie and Elizabeth; and her ex-husband, Gene.

She is survived by her daughters and their spouses, Linda Cramer and her husband Chuck, of New London, Conn., Ruth Dodge and her husband Del of Jackson, and Robin Marsanskis and her husband Jeff of Scarborough.

She is also survived by one sister, Janice Orff of Jefferson; eight grandchildren, Christine Roesler, Fred Storz, Jerry Reynolds, Rebecca Porter, Michelle Porter, Heather Sykes, Caitlin Noble and Leah Marsanskis; and 14 great-grandchildren, Jordan, Mercedes and Ashton Reynolds, Kyle Storz, Gregory, Jarvis and Makayla Sykes, Bobby and Rochelle Porter, Riley, Alexis, Isabella and Hayden Porter, and baby Lilly Noble.

At Crystal’s request there will be no services. Interment will be at Grove Cemetery in Belfast at the convenience of the family.
