The Elks National Free Throw Hoop Shoot will take place Saturday, Jan. 7 at Rockland District Middle School, where a sharp-shooting local youth could play his/her way into the basketball hall of fame.

Registration for the foul-shooting event begins at noon. The competition, which begins at 1 p.m., is for boys and girls ages 8-13.

The event attracts more than three million participants annually with local winners playing for the right to advance to the district, state, regional and national competitions.

The national finals will be in Springfield, Mass., where the national champions will be enshrined into The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
