The lineup for the 2012 North Atlantic Blues Festival has been announced. The festival will run Saturday and Sunday, July 14 and 15 in Harbor Park. Both days will end with one of Louisiana’s finest.

The Randy Oxford Band will open the first day, followed by the Royal Southern Brotherhood featuring Cyril Neville, Mike Zito, Devon Allman, Charlie Wooton and Mean Willie Green.  Rick Estrin & The Nightcats will pave the way for a Tribute To Koko Taylor featuring the late Taylor’s band The Blues Machine with singers Nora Jean Wallace, Melvia “Chick” Rogers and Jackie Scott. Robben Ford will follow, and the day will end with the bayou’s own Tab Benoit, Louisiana roots music master and a longtime Midcoast favorite.

Benoit, whose version of “Shelter Me” is the theme song for the cable TV series “Sons of Guns,” will open each episode of the new series “Ragin’ Cajun,” which begins Tuesday, Jan. 17, with “Muddy Bottom Blues.” Both shows are aired on the Discovery Channel. Zito and Wallace are up for Blues Music Awards, Zito for Blues Rock Album (“Greyhound”); and Wallace for the Koko Taylor Award.

Sunday’s music will begin with Charlie A’court, followed by Rockland-proven bluesmakers Albert Castiglia, Ana Popovic and Anthony Gomes. The festival will come to a swamp stomp end with Chubby Carrier and The Bayou Swamp Band.

Carrier has been called the world’s premier zydeco showman. Part of the third generation of a legacy of zydeco artists, Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band have traveled all over the world and won this year’s Grammy Award for Best Zydeco or Cajun Music Album for “Zydeco Junkie.” Popovic is nominated for three BMAs: Contemporary Blues Album (“Unconditional”); Contemporary Blues Female Artist; and for her DVD “An Evening at Trasimeno Lake.”

Advance tickets are $25 either day or $50 for the weekend; the Saturday ticket waives cover charges at the nighttime club crawl. To order and for more information, visit northatlanticbluesfestival.com. The Monday Night Blues series at Rockland’s Time Out Pub will resume next month.
