The Searsport District High School varsity basketball doubleheader scheduled for Monday, Jan. 9 against visiting Acadia Christian will hold more meaning than just another battle for regular-season wins.

The makeup games also will include an American Cancer Society Coaches versus Cancer event.

The girls game begins at 5 p.m. and the boys at 6:30 p.m.

SDHS boys coach Brad Cook said there will be fundraisers at the game, including selling Wall of Hope cards for the American Cancer Society. Additionally, student-athletes will wear pink warm-up attire and the coaches will sport pink as well, along with wearing sneakers, to support the program.

The Penobscot Valley Conference, of which SDHS is affiliated, will have 31 schools participate in a Coaches versus Cancer event during the week of Jan. 9-14.
