A second half-marathon has been scheduled for the Midcoast for 2012.

While the second annual Blueberry Cove Half-Marathon will be in August in Tenants Harbor, the first annual Midcoast Half-Marathon, a 13.1-mile road race, will be Sunday, March 11 at 9:30 a.m.

The race will start and end at the Cellardoor Winery in Lincolnville.

The event features cash prizes, a two-person relay option, shuttles from Camden to the event, postrace wine tasting, children’s art and yoga classes for spectators, as well as a small display from local vendors promoting healthy and active products and live music, said Andrew Stewart, owner of Hope General Store and one of the event’s organizers.

Food also will be included in the entry fee for runners and is available for purchase by spectators.

The schedule of events includes:

Saturday, March 10 —  Packet pickup and registration at Cellardoor Winery, 3 to 5 p.m.

Sunday, March 11, 7 a.m. — Parking lots open, 7 a.m.; packet pickup and registration at Cellardoor Winery, 7 to 9 a.m.; packet pick up and registration closes, 9 a.m.; expo, food and entertainment opens, 9 a.m.; race begins, 9:30 a.m.; and awards ceremony, noon.

Stewart said the group hopes to organize a 5-kilometer road race in the spring for the the Hope elephant project. The group also plans to organize a half-Ironman distance triathlon, which will debut in 2012 or 2013. “There are significant logistical issues for this project and we will make sure that everything is perfect before going ahead with that race,” Stewart said.
