Tanglewood 4-H Camp and Learning Center is celebrating 30 years of serving children and their elders, and the first event marking the anniversary is a snowshoe race for all ages and abilities.

The race is set for the first annual Tanglewood 5k Snowshoe Race is set to start on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 1 p.m. at the Tanglewood 4-H Camp and Learning Center, off of Ducktrap Road in Lincolnville and within the eastern part Camden Hills State Park.

Known for its hiking and cross-country skiing trails, the Tanglewood campus offers a scenic snowshoe course that features some hilly, woodsy terrain and the wild Ducktrap River.

Registration is available online, or on the day of the race. It’s open to anyone 13 years old and up. The $25 registration fee includes hot soup, cookies, hot chocolate and coffee. Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers.

For children 12 years old and under, Tanglewood is offering the opportunity to participate in a 500-yard snowshoe dash. Snowshoes will be available for the dash on a first come first serve basis.
