Police report that an accident on Troy Road Sunday morning left a truck and attached horse trailer totaled after the vehicle jackknifed on the ice-covered road.

According to the accident report from the responding officer, Waldo County Sheriff’s Deputy Matt Curtis, Brittany E. Jameson, 28, of Dover, N.H. was driving a 2007 GMC pickup and hauling a horse trailer while traveling east on Troy Road. Jameson reportedly accelerated to gain momentum going up a hill when she lost traction on the icy and unsanded road surface.

Curtis stated in his report that the truck spun to the right, which caused the horse trailer to push the truck 180 degrees. The impact forced the vehicle off the road to the left, where it rolled over onto its side. The horse trailer did not entirely separate from the truck.

Curtis determined that the truck and the trailer were both totaled based on the amount of damage they sustained in the accident. The truck had visible damage all over the body, while the trailer also showed damage to its exterior. There was also “significant damage” done to the gooseneck-style hitch of the trailer, the report stated.

Jameson and her two passengers, 42-year-old Kristen Duisberg and a 12-year-old female, all escaped the accident without injury.
