Bay Chamber Community Music School invites guitarists to join an evening Guitar Workshop/Ensemble with faculty member Jeff Rojo. The workshop and ensemble is open to all classical guitar lovers of all ages and levels seeking to broaden their musical horizons.

There will be four sessions of the ensemble/workshop on Thursdays from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The sessions will take place Feb. 16, March 15, April 19 and May 17. Registration is $15.

Rojo said he has always envisioned leading a guitar ensemble in the community because the importance of sharing music with other musicians is an invaluable experience and enhances the skills learned in individual lessons. Activities will include warmup techniques, customized practice routines, tone production, sight reading, open stage performances, solos and small and large ensemble performance opportunities.

Rojo began private courses in guitar technique and music theory at age 13. Three years later, he enrolled at the Escuela Superior de Musica in Mexico City. He completed a three-year program in Guitar Music Performance and Music Theory and later enrolled at the Centro de Investigación y Estudios de la Música, where he completed his B.M. degree in Guitar Music Performance, Music Theory and Music Composition. In 2001, he was also certified and received diplomas in Guitar Music Performance and Music Theory from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music.
