Law enforcement officials with the Belfast Police Department reported the following recent activity:

Jan. 23

Herbert L. Staples, 56, of Belfast was summoned for failure to provide proof of insurance.

Jan. 24

Cyril B. Pyle, 72, of Searsport was summoned for an inspection sticker violation.

Denise R. Marriner, 53, of Liberty was summoned for an inspection sticker violation and failure to provide proof of insurance.

Vincent J. Guarino, 31, of Rockport was driving north on Jesse Robbins Road in a 1995 Ford pickup and slowed down to make a right-hand turn into a driveway. Meanwhile, Albert J. Moorse, 32, of Northport was headed in the same direction and was driving behind Guarino in a 2005 Chevrolet. Moorse reportedly came up behind Guarino and passed Guarino on the right while Guarino was still in forward motion. Moorse left the roadway while passing Guarino and then lost control. Moorse started skidding side-to-side and the went off the road, hitting a mailbox and a property marker before coming to rest in a driveway. Moorse later told police that Guarino did not have his blinker on, but Guarino said he had switched on his turn signal before slowing down in the road. Moorse was ticketed for a seat belt violation and was also charged with imprudent speed and improper passing.

Jan. 25

Christopher Wallace, 38, of Swanville was charged with operating with a license that had been expired for greater than 90 days.

Berta Welch, 79, of Jackson was summoned for failure to yield on entering a public way.

Roland LeClerc, 55, of Penobscot was summoned for speeding (59 mph in a 45 mph zone).

Jan. 26

Stephen P. Lindsay, 67, of Wellesley, Mass., was summoned for speeding (60 mph in a 45 mph zone).

Michael A. Moody, 32, of Searsmont was summoned for speeding (59 mph in a 45 mph zone).

Jan. 27

Andrew H. Clements, 76, of Belfast was summoned for failure to yield right of way.

Jospef P. Eggert, 34, of Huntington Beach, Ca., was going north on Route 1 near the Belfast/Searsport town line in a 2003 Honda SUV when he started sliding on the snow and ice-covered road. The vehicle then crossed the center line, left the road and rolled onto the driver’s side. Eggert was not injured in the crash.

Jan. 28

Gary L. Elwell II, 38, of Belmont was charged with operating under the influence.
