The Arthur Jewell Community Health Center ambulance service has new leadership and goals for the upcoming year. Matthew Shaw is now the service captain with Keith Nealley serving as co-captain; Jeri Roberts, secretary; and Theona “Pony” Stubbs, treasurer.

This year’s goals for the service include expanding its volunteer base so it continues to have the personnel to respond to calls with quality care around the clock and also upgrading its administrative capabilities, according to a press release from Waldo County General Hospital.

Dan Bennett, director of operations at WCGH, said in the press release, “I am excited about the new leadership and am looking forward to the ambulance service continuing to serve the people in its area.”

Bennett added that the hospital intends to support and work with the new leadership on its short-term goals, as well as coming up with a long-term plan for the ambulance service.

The AJCHC ambulance service was formed in 1979 with 25 members, and made its first run in 1980.
