The Belfast Flying Shoes Contra Dance series is held every first Friday under the disco ball at the American Legion Hall Post #43, 143 Church St. The March 2 event will begin 6:30 p.m. with a community dance led by caller Chrissy Fowler with music by The All-Comer’s Band (all who wish to play are invited to bring their instruments and come). Fun and simple dances will be taught and both beginner and experienced dancers are encouraged to brush up on and learn new skills.

At 7:30 p.m., there will be a break for the Tasty Treat Potluck of finger snacks. At 8 p.m., the monthly contra dance will begin. This month’s tunes will be provided by Perpetual e-Motion featuring Ed Howe on fiddle and John Cote on guitar, feet and, yes, didgeridoo. The dance will be called by Fowler.

Admission for the community dance is $2 for adults and $1 for children. Admission for the contra dance is $10 for those older than 20; $7 for age 13 to 20 as well as adult All-Comers; and $4 for children. As always, anyone who brings a box fan for the windows gets a dollar discount. For more information, call 338-0979 or visit belfastflyingshoes.org.
