The Small Woodland Owners Association of Maine has partnered with the Maine Forest Service, Internal Revenue Service, Maine Revenue Service, and Maine’s Soil and Water Conservation Districts to bring tax workshops to landowners in March.

Jim Norris, IRS forester for nearly 30 years, will present workshops on federal income tax for woodland owners. His presentation will include types of forest ownership, cost and income considerations, establishing basis, determining loss or gain, and much more.

Norris will present an example of an actual Maine property. He will also hold office hours during the day for anyone with questions about how to file harvesting taxes. Call if you would like to reserve a time slot.

There will be time for questions and discussion after each presentation. These meetings are free and open to the public; however, because the workshop will be canceled if there are not at least 10 people attending, be sure to call the number listed on the workshop to RSVP.
