Today’s snow has delayed the initial court appearance of the Jackson man charged with murdering a Florida man who had been missing for almost two weeks.

Daniel Porter, 24, had been scheduled to appear in Waldo County Superior Court at 1 p.m. this afternoon, which would have been his first court appearance since he was arrested and charged with murder on Tuesday.

Porter is accused of killing 31-year-old Jerry Perdomo, whose body was found off of the Dahlia Farm Road in Newburgh yesterday. Police have classified Perdomo’s death as drug related, and an affidavit filed in court indicates Porter reportedly owed Perdomo several thousand dollars.

According to Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety, Porter is now scheduled to appear in Waldo County Superior Court at 9 a.m. tomorrow (March 2).

As of this morning, Porter remains in custody at the Waldo County Jail in Belfast, according to officials there. Those officials also indicate bail has not yet been set for Porter.
