Islesboro woman named to dean’s list at University of New England

BIDDEFORD — Michelle Reidy, daughter of Bill and Julie Reidy of Islesboro, has been named to the dean’s list for the 2011 fall semester at the University of New England. Dean’s list students have attained a grade-point average of 3.30 or better out of a possible 4.0 at the end of the semester.

A 2011 graduate of Islesboro Central School, Michelle Reidy is majoring in applied exercise science with a pre-physical therapy designation. She is also a member of the Noreaster Cross Country Team.

MANCHESTER, N.H. — Kristina Marquis, of Monroe, was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2011 semester at Southern New Hampshire University. To be eligible for this honor, a student must compile an academic grade point average of 3.0-3.49.

Morrill woman named to dean’s list at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences

BOSTON — The Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences has announced that Chantelle T. Whitcomb has been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2011 semester. Whitcomb, daughter of Michelle and Greg Whitcomb, is a native of Morrill, and is pursuing a Doctor of Pharmacy degree. She is expected to graduate in 2016.

Searsport woman named to Elizabethtown College’s dean’s list

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. — Katherine Cotter, a sophomore from Searsport, is among the students whose academic performance has earned them the recognition of being included on the fall 2011 dean’s list at Elizabethtown College.

To earn this recognition, students must earn a semester grade-point average of 3.60 or better.

Belfast woman earns first academic honors from Clark University

WORCESTER, Mass. — Isabel D. Alexander, a resident of Belfast, has been named to first honors on the Clark University dean’s list. This selection marks outstanding academic achievement during the fall 2011 semester.

To be eligible for first honors, students must have a grade-point average of 3.8 or higher, of a maximum of 4.3 (all A-pluses).

Waldo County students graduate from Maine Maritime Academy

CASTINE — Diplomas were presented to Maine Maritime Academy graduates at a mid-year graduation ceremony held Dec. 11, in the Alfond Student Center on the campus of the college. The ceremony was hosted by President and Mrs. William Brennan. Local graduates included:

• Matthew Francis, of Belfast, recently received a Bachelor of Science degree in international business and logistics from Maine Maritime Academy. Francis is a graduate of Belfast Area High School.

• Kyle Ritchie, of Stockton Springs, recently received a Bachelor of Science degree in international business and logistics from Maine Maritime Academy. Ritchie is a graduate of Searsport District High School.

CASTINE — The following students from Waldo County were recently named to the dean’s list at Maine Maritime Academy for outstanding academic achievement in the first semester of the 2011-2012 academic year:

• Dylan Hahn, of Belfast, is a member of the class of the class of 2014, and is majoring in marine engineering technology. He is a graduate of Belfast Area High School.

• Mason Hall, of Belfast, is a member of the class of the class of 2013, and is majoring in marine transportation operations. He is a graduate of Old Saybrook Senior High School, Old Saybrook, Conn.

• Lucas Miller, of Belfast, is a member of the class of the class of 2011, and is majoring in marine systems engineering — license track. He is a graduate of Belfast Area High School.

• Timothy Morley, of Belfast, is a member of the class of the class of 2014, and is majoring in marine engineering technology. He is a graduate of Belfast Area High School.

• Andrew Plessner, of Morrill, is, a member of the class of the class of 2013, and is majoring in marine engineering technology. He is a graduate of Belfast Area High School.

• Kristina Kelley, of Belfast, is a member of the class of the class of 2015, and is majoring in marine biology. Kelley is a graduate of Belfast Area High School, Belfast.

• Adam Weymouth, of Belmont, is a member of the class of the class of 2015, and is majoring in marine engineering operations. Weymouth is a graduate of Belfast Area High School.

• Dylan Drinkwater, of Northport, is a member of the class of the class of 2015, and is majoring in marine transportation operations. Drinkwater is a graduate of Belfast Area High School.

Students named to the dean’s list earn a grade point average of 3.3 or above on a 4.0 scale.
