Goldie McKeen Arey, 86, died Saturday, March 3, 2012 at Penobscot Nursing Home with her loving family by her side. She was born in Stockton Springs on May 2, 1925, the eldest of five children born to James and Nina (Leach) McKeen.

Goldie was very proud to graduate from Stockton Springs High School in 1942. She enjoyed yard sales, gardening, antiquing, and singing, and she was also an avid reader.

She is survived by three daughters, Vivian Wardwell and her husband Raymond of Verona Island, Dixi Sorey of Stockton Springs and Kitty Schmutte of Lewiston; nine grandchildren, Susan, Joyce, Mike, Donnie, Doriann, Dealesa, Sheryl, Jody and Seth; 27 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a sister, Judy Littlefield; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other loved ones.

Besides her parents, Goldie was predeceased by three husbands, Leo Murray, John Howard and most recently, Wilbur L. Arey; one son, Peter Howard; two grandsons, Joshua Hampton and Samuel Huddleston; two great-grandsons, Jason Sorey and Robert Powers; two brothers, James McKeen and Darrell McKeen; and one sister, Annette Mushrall.

Family and friends will gather for visitation from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 2 p.m. on Wednesday March 7 at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport, with Pastor Clayton Wadsworth officiating.
