Police are asking for help from the public with identifying the person or people who reportedly burglarized a residence on Ocean Street over the weekend.

Belfast Police Chief Mike McFadden said police received the report of the break-in at about 3 p.m. March 3. Belfast patrolmen Brian Lunt and Eric Kelley responded to the scene, but as of March 5, police were still working to determine if anything was missing from the residence.

Detective Sgt. Bryan Cunningham has since taken over as the lead investigator on the case.

McFadden said any tips from the public, no matter how seemingly insignificant, could help lead police to the person(s) responsible for the break-in. Suspicious people or unknown vehicles seen in the area would be of particular interest to police, McFadden said.

“Ocean Street is a pretty residential area. There really isn’t any reason for anybody to be up there unless they live there or unless they’re visiting someone,” said McFadden.

Anyone with information about the break-in is asked to call police at 338-5255.
