The Belfast Flying Shoes Contra Dance series continues Friday, April 6 at the American Legion Hall Post #43, 143 Church St. The evening will begin 6:30 p.m. with a community dance led by caller Chrissy Fowler with music by The All-Comer’s Band. Fun and simple dances will be taught and both beginner and experienced dancers are encouraged to brush up on and learn new skills. All musicians are welcome to sit in.

At 7:30 p.m., there will be a potluck snack break; and at 8 p.m., the main contra dance will begin. This month’s tunes will be provided by New England contra dance band Arigana Highway. Veteran dance musicians Mary Cay Brass (piano, accordion) and Stuart Kenney (double bass, banjo) join newcomers Alden Robinson (fiddle) and Matthew Kenney (percussion) to play a rich blend of Irish, Quebecois, and Appalachian tunes. Mary Wesley from Vermont will call.

Admission for the community dance is $2 for adults and $1 for children. Admission to the contra dance is $10; $7 for those age 13 to 20 as well as adult All-Comers; and $4 for children. As always, anyone who brings a box fan for the windows gets a dollar discount. For more information, call 338-0979 or visit belfastflyingshoes.org.
