The Kantele Ensemble, also known as Suomalaiset Jouset, is sponsored by the Finnish Heritage House, located on Route 131. The group was established in July 2010 with a $1,000 grant from Finn Spark, Inc.

The ensemble has presented more than 20 concerts to schools, senior groups, nursing home, retirement communities and historical societies over the past year and a half. There are currently 16 members of the group, around 10 of which attend the rehearsals held every other Saturday in Jura Hall, beneath the Finnish Congregational Church.

For more information about the group and about its availability for performances, contact Steve Gifford at 989-1971.
