Belfast Historical Society and Museum has received a grant of $3,000 from Bangor Savings Bank Foundation in support of the museum’s summer Student-Intern Program. The grant will fund one of two interns for two summers. The second intern will be funded, as always, by generous support from Belfast Historical Society members.

The museum intern program was first established in 2002 and has received broad recognition for providing an outstanding educational experience. Most interns have been juniors or seniors from Belfast Area High School and all will tell you it’s the best summer job in Belfast. Interns greet visitors, give tours conserve and catalog collections and generally participate in all aspects of museum operations. According to museum curator Megan Pinette, “we simply cannot do without our interns.”

The Belfast Museum opens for the season June 16 and will be open Tuesday to Saturday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
