Winterport Open Stage will open its 2012 spring production, “The Smell of the Kill” by Michele Lowe, Friday, April 20 for a two-weekend run at the Wagner Middle School, Mountain View Drive. Performances will be Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m.; and Sundays at 3 p.m. through April 29.

“The Smell of the Kill” is directed by Dominick Varney who described it as a mix of “Sex and the City” and “Desperate Housewives,” with a dash of “Laverne & Shirley” and “The Golden Girls.” Key to the recipe are three delicious wives played by local favorites Brianne Beck, Jenny Hart and Christie Robinson.

While their unseen spouses play golf in the dining room, the women exchange confidences for the first time, revealing that all three marriages and women are facing the challenges of their lives. Are the wives cooked? Will the husbands get their just desserts? The answers are revealed, along with a gun, a butcher knife and freezer full of meat. This comedy is for mature audiences.

General admission tickets at the door will be $8, $4 for senior citizens and students.
