Through June 30, donations to sponsor children to go to Camp CaPella will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $25,000 from the Peggy and Steve LaVerdiere Challenge grant for operating funds. With a $300 co-pay from parents, the total of $50,000 from this challenge alone could send more than 40 children with physical or developmental disabilities to Camp CaPella this summer.

“This wonderful challenge gift couldn’t have happened at a better time for us,” notes Dana Mosher, executive director of Camp CaPella. “Many nonprofits are having trouble raising funds at this time, and this matching-funds challenge grant could really help Camp CaPella at this critical moment.”

Two years ago Camp CaPella property and facilities were purchased by Doris Buffett’s Sunshine Lady Foundation and will be transferred to Camp CaPella if operating funds have been raised in each of the five years after the purchase. A matching grant was also provided to raise capital funds dedicated to facility improvement only and not to fund any operating expenses.

“We have a new arts and crafts building and new pontoon boats,” says Dana Mosher. “But we are still faced with the urgent need for operating funds. This new matching-funds challenge grant is a huge boost in helping us raise operating funds, but we do need donations from others that will be matched by this great gift.”

Donation checks may be mailed to Camp CaPella, P.O. Box 552, Holden, ME 04429.
