Police say no one was hurt in a two-car accident that occurred just beyond the Waldo Avenue on-ramp on Route 1 Friday afternoon.

Belfast police, fire and ambulance personnel were called to the accident at about 2 p.m., but Belfast Detective Sgt. Bryan Cunningham said none of the vehicle occupants were transported to a hospital and all involved — including two 5-year-old children and an infant — were examined by ambulance personnel and released at the scene.

Cunningham said the accident report was still incomplete as of late Monday morning, but stated that 24-year-old Katie Morin of Lewiston operated one of the vehicles involved and had the three children with her in her car at the time of the crash. Also involved in the accident was 64-year-old Jeffrey Peters of Waldo.

“One of the vehicles ran into the back of the other,” said Cunningham, who noted the draft accident report did not indicate which driver struck whom, nor does the report indicate the makes or models of the vehicles involved.

Traffic was slowed as police guided passersby away from the site of the crash Friday, but the road remained open as emergency crews worked to clear the scene.
