On Friday, April 27, the Velvet Lounge series of Rock City Café, 316 Main St., will serve up two slices of entertainment. The evening will open early with Information Concentrate, a performance of music and poetry by Matt Wellman from 5 to 6 p.m. Then from 7 to 9 p.m., the Velvet Lounge welcomes back Belfast’s Scot Cannon.

Cannon sings and plays his own acoustic versions of jazz and pop standards. He also performs from his collection of mildly sarcastic and sometimes moving original songs. This visit, Cannon will fill his first set with his own compositions followed by a set of standards.

Cannon is a Berklee College of Music graduate in arranging, music education and guitar. For the past 25 years, he has toured the East Coast with his mime, music and theater programs for children and adults. Since moving to Belfast, he has been able to use his talents at festivals and venues throughout the state and also on WERU-FM. For more information, visit scotcannonmusic.com and scotcannon.com.

As usual there is no cover charge; however, tipping the artists is highly encouraged. For more information on this and other events happening at the coffeebar/cafe, call 594-4123.
