Joshua Larrabee, 11, of Brooks bagged his first turkey April 28.

Larrabee started hunting at 4:30 a.m. that day and at 6 a.m. had shot a 20.25-pound tom, which had a nine-inch beard.

It was Larrabee’s first turkey hunt and it was the first turkey tagged at J.P. Wentworth General Store in Brooks that morning.

Larrabee, a sixth-grader at Mount View Middle School, was hunting with his dad, Greg Larrabee, as well as Ethan Stubbs and Hayley Graves.

Larrabee loves soccer, basketball and track and field. After he shot the turkey he had to hurry to school to get on the bus to go to his first track meet of the season, where he competed in the 100 meters, 400 meters, the 4×400-meter relay and high jump.

He is the son of Gregory and Tisha Larrabee of Brooks. He has an older sister, Christine, and an older brother, Caleb.
