A traditional shape note singing is held the second Monday of every month in First Church Fellowship Hall, between Church and Court streets (entrance on Spring Street). This month’s singing will run 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, May 14.

This form of energetic four-part unaccompanied singing dates from Colonial New England and also is know as “Sacred Harp” singing. Books are available for loan and purchase. The singing is open to all, and newcomers are most welcome.

Information about the June 2 singing at Sabbathday Lake Shaker Village will be shared. For more information, call 338-1265 or 594-5743.
