Want to become a licensed soccer referee for the Pen Bay Soccer Club (U.S. Soccer Federation, USSF)? Those ages 14 and older are eligible.

The requirements include a 16-hour one-time referee course, an annual three-hour recertification class, and the ability to run, sprint and exercise for up to 90 minutes.

The initial course fee is $120. Scholarships are available. The annual recertification fee is $70.

Seasons run April through June and September through November. Referees are paid $20 to $60 per match.

Games are played in Camden, Rockport, Hope, Lincolnville and Northport. Most Pen Bay Soccer Club games/matches are on Sundays, with a few Saturdays. Occasionally, games are midweek nights.

Tournaments run throughout the state and regionals are held along the Eastern Seaboard.
